Fondness and Admiration in Everyday Life
Instructions
- Make your own fondness and admiration checklist about your partner. As well as you can, memorize the list and rehearse it or parts of it daily. Look at the Three good things and I appreciate articles for ideas.
- Develop a new flattering nickname for your partner (e.g. “Sunshine”, “Elephant Lover”).
- Make a point everyday to give at least one genuine appreciation for something your partner did. Focus on what your partner is adding to your life. Rituals for connection and Re-connection exercise might help you figure that out.
- Make it a point every day to touch your partner (verbally and physically) In a purely affectionate manner. Magic 5 and a half hours exercise can be used as a guide for this.
Additionally, consider the following ideas to help bring your partner and you closer together.
- Work on building Love Maps, by asking open ended questions about your partner and their internal world.
- Find the humor in your partner, (watch a funny movie, tell “dad jokes” to them, send funny memes) share moments of genuine laughter.
- Build a map of your partner’s everyday life.
- Thanksgiving exercise to build gratitude.
