Joseph Fincher, LPC-A

Hi there! I’m an LPC-Associate under the supervision of Noel C. Gonzalez, PhD, LPC-Supervisor.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent over a decade as an educator in the Baytown and Houston communities, helping students strengthen their English Language Arts and Reading skills. My time as a teacher, mentor, and guide gave me a deep appreciation for the challenges people face growing up—and the resilience they can build along the way.

These days, I focus on supporting people who are navigating trauma and life’s curve-balls. Whether it’s trauma from accidents, cancer, LGBTQIA+ issues, or HIV, I’m here to help. I also work with clients managing ADHD, anxiety, depression (including generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD, and major depressive disorder), and men’s issues.

I take a flexible approach to therapy, using techniques that fit your unique needs. Some of the tools I draw from include mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Sandtray therapy, , and walk-and-talk therapy. At the heart of my work is an Existential approach, which means we’ll focus on finding meaning, making choices that align with your values, and embracing personal growth.

When we first meet, we’ll take time to explore what’s brought you to therapy and create a plan that works for you. Whether you’re looking for ongoing support or just need a session to “reset,” I’ll be here to help you uncover your strengths, tackle life’s challenges, and feel more like yourself again.

I work with clients aged 15 and up, and I truly believe it’s never too late—or too early—to find your balance and live authentically. Let’s work together to help you navigate life on your terms.
