“I appreciate…”

It is very important to acknowledge the positive aspects of a partner’s personality. How we think of our partner is often habitual, it’s best to take time to remember and practice the mindset that we love them and celebrate how amazing they are.

Circle three to five items that you think are characteristic of your partner at times, even slightly. For each item you circle, briefly think of an actual incident that illustrates this characteristic of your partner. Jot down a note about this incident next to the item. Then share the circled adjective and this incident with your partner. I find this works best by picking something a partner would not expect to hear. Enjoy!
