Neurodivergence
Neurodivergent affirming therapy
Love Let Out is a telehealth group therapy practice offering neurodivergent affirming therapy to adults in Texas, Oregon, and Washington. We work with autistic clients, ADHDers, AuDHDers, and anyone else whose brain runs on a different operating system than the one the world assumes. You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with us, and you will not spend your sessions translating yourself.
Tired of explaining yourself to your therapist?
You have probably done it before. Explaining what masking costs you. Explaining that eye contact is a performance, not a connection. Explaining that "just use a planner" is not a treatment plan for executive dysfunction. By the time the explaining is done, the session is over.
Some of our clients found out they were autistic at 38. Some have known they were ADHD since third grade and are still unlearning what school taught them about themselves. Some are AuDHD and tired of picking which half of their brain gets acknowledged today.
You deserve a therapist who already knows the vocabulary. What makes us weird makes us wonderful, not wrong.
What is neurodivergent affirming therapy?
Neurodivergent affirming therapy treats autism, ADHD, and other neurotypes as real differences to be understood, not defects to be corrected. The goal is not to make you act more neurotypical. The goal is a life that fits the brain you actually have.
A lot of conventional therapy quietly aims at compliance. Make more eye contact. Sit still. Stop info-dumping about your special interest. We work from the neurodiversity paradigm instead, which means the problem we treat is the mismatch between you and an environment built for someone else, not your existence.
In practice that looks like unmasking at your own pace, recovering from autistic burnout, building executive function supports that work with your brain instead of shaming it, navigating rejection sensitivity, and grieving the years you spent thinking you were broken.
Who do we work with?
We work with autistic adults, ADHDers, and AuDHD clients in Texas, Oregon, and Washington, whether formally diagnosed, self-identified, or somewhere in the middle of figuring it out. Late-identified adults are a large part of our caseload.
Common reasons people come to us:
- Autistic burnout and the crash after years of masking
- A late diagnosis or self-realization that is rearranging your whole life story
- Executive function struggles that shame has never once fixed
- Sensory overwhelm and the exhaustion of pushing through it
- Rejection sensitivity that turns small conflicts into full-body events
- Relationships where the neurotypical partner's communication style is treated as the default
Do I need a formal diagnosis to start?
No. Self-identification is enough to begin therapy with us. Formal assessment is expensive, hard to access as an adult, and historically built around stereotypes of young white boys, so we do not treat a paper diagnosis as the price of admission.
If you want a formal evaluation, we can talk through what that process involves and what it would and would not change about your care. We simply can't know what you need until we work together.
Why does a neurodivergent specialist matter for people like us?
Because neurodivergence rarely shows up alone, and neither do our clients. Many neurodivergent people are also queer, and our practice provides LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy as a core specialty rather than a footnote. Many are polyamorous or otherwise non-monogamous, and the overlap between autistic communication styles and explicit relationship agreements is something we discuss in polyamory affirming therapy every week. Some are kinky, and sensory-seeking or structured power exchange makes a different kind of sense when your clinician understands both kink and BDSM and neurodivergence. And plenty grew up being told their differences were disobedience or sin, which is where our religious trauma recovery work comes in.
Love Let Out was founded to support underserved, marginalized populations, prioritizing Non-Monogamous, Kink, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, and Disabled communities. We are committed to social justice, liberation, and mental health equity. These specialties overlap because these lives overlap. Competency across all of them is clinical necessity, not branding.
What are sessions like?
All sessions are online. Telehealth therapy has real advantages for neurodivergent clients: you control your environment, your lighting, your seating, and your exit. Cameras are negotiable. Stimming is welcome. Scripts and notes are welcome. There is no small-talk requirement.
Every clinician on our team serves clients in Texas. Clients in Oregon and Washington work with our founder, Cody Glover, LPC-S in Texas and Oregon and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington. You can read about the whole team and how each clinician works before you ever book anything.
We also offer group therapy, though no groups are currently running. If a neurodivergent-focused group interests you, join the interest list for upcoming groups and we will reach out when one forms.
Frequently asked questions
What is neurodivergent affirming therapy?
Neurodivergent affirming therapy is counseling that treats autism, ADHD, and other neurotypes as differences rather than disorders to be corrected. At Love Let Out, that means we help you unmask, recover from burnout, and build supports that fit your brain, instead of training you to appear neurotypical.
What states does Love Let Out serve?
Love Let Out provides telehealth therapy to clients in Texas, Oregon, and Washington. All of our clinicians serve Texas, and clients in Oregon and Washington work with our founder, Cody Glover.
Do I need an autism or ADHD diagnosis to start therapy?
No. Self-identification is enough to begin neurodivergent affirming therapy at Love Let Out. Formal assessment is not required, and we can discuss whether pursuing one makes sense for you.
Is neurodivergent affirming therapy available online?
Yes. All Love Let Out sessions are conducted by telehealth, which lets you attend from an environment you control. Cameras are optional and stimming, scripts, and movement are welcome in session.
Does Love Let Out offer groups for neurodivergent adults?
We offer group therapy, but no groups are currently running. You can join the interest list for upcoming groups and we will contact you when a neurodivergent-focused group forms.
